One of the interesting tips in our book was this one on page 17. “How to tell how much is inside a can.”
Our discussion:
Today, the cans are labeled with weight of the contents. An 8 ounce can is labeled 8 oz. We also see the weight in grams, but we’ve stopped using a confusing number system that’s illustrated here.
The chart helped kids get it straight, but now there’s no more guessing and we can pull out the cell phone to make quick calculations in the aisle at the grocery store. No need to drag the abacus around with us, either. Right, Julia?
